Our First Evening Event

What a flipping brilliant business community we’ve got in the Far West of Cornwall! We came together on the 6th November for the first evening networking event of the Far West Business Network, and I couldn’t be happier with how it went.

We’ve been meeting on the second Tuesday morning of each month since March 2024, with the aim of bringing the business community together, provide support to each other and exchange ideas.

Our evening event was an opportunity to do something a little bigger. We had a larger space, which meant that we could welcome along more business owners than our morning meetings. And, most importantly, it provided an opportunity for those who can’t make it during the day to get involved.

We were thrilled that our evening event was fully booked, welcoming along thirty people from various businesses in the local area. I rather nervously gave a short talk about the FWBN and what members could expect from attending our meetings, followed by Tom McFadden who introduced the brand-new St Just and District Chamber of Commerce.

This was followed by a lively discussion on what everyone would find useful for their businesses, either from the FWBN or the Chamber. We came away with some great ideas about what local businesses are interested in and how we can develop our groups. Watch this space!

All this was accompanied by drinks and some delicious cake provided by the Count House at Geevor. What an amazing venue, big thanks to the folks at the Count House for looking after us so well.

We’ve had some lovely feedback about the evening, how much everyone enjoyed it and how inspiring it was. That’s totally down to our fantastic business community. Let’s keep working together and seeing what we can achieve.

Here are some photos from the evening, taken by the extremely talented Ted Munns from West Penwith Photography.
